The upcoming Higurashi When They Cry anime has been postponed due to COVID-19. Originally scheduled to release in July 2020, the date has been pushed back. A new date for the release of Higurashi When They Cry will be announced via the official Twitter and website. [Thanks, Famitsu!]
This upcoming anime was originally teased in January 2020 and was officially announced in March 2020. The announcement was made alongside the release of a PV that shared the names of the voice actors, director, and composer that will be part of the project.
Higurashi When They Cry is a murder mystery visual novel and has received several anime adaptations since its release. The story takes in the fictional village of Hinamizawa. Keiichi Maebara, the main character, has recently moved to the village and begins to uncover the dark secrets of Hinamizawa.
You can currently grab the first chapter of Higurashi When They Cry Hou for free on Steam and on MangaGamer. This offer will extend until an effective vaccine for COVID-19 has been found.
