Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley, Natsume’s first original entry in the series, focused completely on players’ farms. There were no towns to visit, and characters remained locked in the valley. If someone wanted to interact with people, they’d have to wait for them to mosey in on their own. Natsume’s latest developer diary for Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories emphasizes how much that has changed in the newest installment.
Yasutaka “Taka” Maekawa, Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories’ Producer, confirms that this entry will feature a more compact and lively town. Maekawa notes in particular that the Town Square will feature prominently in the game. Aside from confirming it as a place to gather and chat with villagers daily, he also confirmed that festivals will be returning for this installment, specifically citing a Cooking Festival that will be held in both the spring and fall seasons.
Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories will be coming to the Nintendo Wii U, Windows PC, and iOS and Android devices. It has a tentative winter 2015 release window.
