The Thing Remastered Shambles to Current Platforms in 2024

At the start of IGN Live, Nightdive Studios announced that the company is developing The Thing Remastered, a remaster of the classic 2002 third-person survival horror game. It acts as a sequel to the original 1982 movie by John Carpenter and will release sometime in 2024.

NIghtdive Studios’ proprietary KEX Engine will allow the game to be played at 4K resolution and 120 FPS on modern platforms capable of it. This new release will feature updated character models, textures, and animations, as well as lighting and atmospheric rendering techniques.

On June 6, 2024, the developers teased on social media that they would announce a game the next day, and attached an image showcasing a large part of the cover art for the original game colored in red instead of its original blue.

Nightdive Studios are the developers behind the System Shock remake released in 2023, and the enhanced editions of the classic System Shock, the modern re-release of Doom 64, as well as Quake and Quake II, among others.

The Thing Remastered is currently in development for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC via Steam and it will appear later in 2024.
