Two brilliant illustrators have unfortunately died in the past few days. One is Hiroshi Kajiyama, who was known for his illustrations in the Shining Force and Golden Sun series. The other is Kaori Fujita, who was known for her illustrations for Suikoden V.
Hiroshi Kajiyama was known for his classical manga artstyle and brought this into the games he illustrated, such as the original Golden Sun, Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, the Shining Force series, Queen’s Blade: Spiral Chaos and Super Heroine Chronicle. He had also penned several adult manga and started the Curse Blood manga in 2017.
Kajiyama’s son broke the news about his death on Twitter on July 14, 2018. The cause of death and the exact date of death were not revealed.
Kaori Fujita was known for her work on the long-running Kuromajo-san ga Toru!! children’s book series, which has gone on to inspire two anime series. She was also the illustrator for Suikoden V on the PlayStation 2.
Kodansha announced on their official website for the Aoi Tori Bunko label on Tuesday that Fujita had been battling pancreatic cancer for half a year while continuing to illustrate. She lost the fight on July 13, 2018 at 6:45pm. She was 47 years old.
