Fate has been changed! Splatoon 2 players have changed their destiny. The special Splatoon 2 Splatfest 2020 event ended on May 24, 2020, and Nintendo has already announced the results both in-game and online. This time around, Team Ketchup reigned victorious, stealing both the popular vote and Pro Clout away from Team Mayonnaise. This means Marina has bested Pearl.

As a reminder, the great mayo versus ketchup feud has been running since August 2017, when Nintendo first pitted the two vinegar-based dressings/sauces against one another. Pearl and her mayonnaise-loving hordes originally beat down Marina and her backers in combat, even though Marina won the popular vote at the time.

This time around, Marina had 55.25% of players voting for her and ketchup, with 44.75% of everyone participating choosing Pearl and mayo. While normal mayo players earned more Clout for their performance, coming in at 51.71%, more Pro ketchup players turned out for getting 50.38% and securing the win. Though, admittedly, this was a close one.

Here are the celebratory screens. While Pearl would tend to bust some rhymes and brag when her team would win the various Splatoon 2 Splatfests, Marina is a bit more congenial and offers to mix her up some mayochup. We’ll have to wait and see if Nintendo also releases celebratory artwork to commemorate Marina’s win.

Splatoon 2 is available for the Nintendo Switch.
