One of Konami’s classic quarter eaters may finally get a console release. Australia’s Classifications Board rated The Simpsons Arcade Game with Konami as the publisher and emulation specialist Backbone Entertainment as the developer. Last year, the two companies worked on a port of the X-Men arcade game for PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade.

The Simpsons Arcade Game is similar, but has less characters. You can choose Homer, Marge, Bart, or Lisa (who attacks with a jump rope) as the family tries to rescue Maggie who mistook a diamond for her pacifier from Mr. Burns. The original game was pretty simple with only an attack and jump button. Pressing both of those would make your character do a strong attack. In multiplayer sessions, you get one more move – a team attack where Homer carries Bart on his back who thwacks goons with his skateboard. Homer and Marge can roll into a ball and Bart and Lisa have the hand holding attack of doom.
