Things have been going in the world of Mother. (Or, well, Earthbound, if you prefer.) The Mother Hobonichi Project from Shigesato Itoi, the series’ creator, has had its first project announced. It is a Pollyanna “Mother” Official Comic compilation that will contain a collection of stories from 35 people based on the series. The official site will begin selling it for ¥2,640 (~$25) on June 12, 2020 in Japan, while general retail stores will have it starting on June 25, 2020. [Thanks, Clyde “Mato” Mandelin!]

To help set the stage for it, an official trailer for the Pollyanna “Mother” Official Comic was shared. It names some of the people who have created stories for the collection, all while showing panels from their comics. It also shows a sheet of stickers that will be included with the release.

Itoi has honestly been building up to this moment and reveal for a while. First, back in January 2020, Itoi’s Hobonichi Shinbun company asked for mangaka to like the Mother series to please get in touch. Then, at the very end of April 2020, Itoi’s Hobonichi Mother Project was revealed. While a book with the series’ scripts was confirmed, the announcement said other news would come before that.

Pollyanna “Mother” Official Comic will make its Japanese debut on June 12, 2020.
