One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 is coming to the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PC and retelling all sorts of tales from the series, but there’s one that won’t be exactly accurate. The Dressarosa arc isn’t a true retelling of events, due to the story still being told in the manga and anime.

Omega Force talked with Toei and Shueisha to work on their alternate adaptation, but it diverges at a very specific point. This arc follows the Straw Hat’s continuing adventures in the New World, following Donquixote Doflamingo’s resigning and Luffy continuing his quest to become the Pirate King. A lot will be different, since the story splits after a specific point.

To be exact, it’s not long after Luffy and his crew meet both Admiral Fujitora and Doflamingo and the Mera Mera no Mi fruit that lets people make mirrors appears. This means the Straw Hat Pirates arrive at Green Bit, as happens in the manga and anime, but it diverges shortly after Sabo gets the Mera Mera no Mi fruit. He gains the abilities that come with it. This means Doflamingo’s bounty hunting segment, race to get Doflamingo, and other events after that point are entirely new stories created by Omega Force for the game.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors will arrive on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PC on August 25, 2015. You’ll be able to see how Omega Force thought the Dressarosa arc should end then.
