Atlus have updated the official website for Shin Megami Tensei IV with some of story details that we’ve already touched upon in the past, and a few screenshots as well. As previously reported, Shin Megami Tensei IV’s story starts out in Mikado of the East, which is located in the luscious, green continent of Kanto.

The citadel is ruled by the king, Ahaziah Mikado, who resides in the Mikado Castle, around which the fortress city is built. Below the castle lies the rest of the city, separated into different districts by tall castle walls. Mikado of the East has a “Gauntlet Ritual”—those that have turned 18 are gathered from all around and undergo a ritual to activate the gauntlet worn by the Samurai.

Just why these gauntlets exist in Mikado is somewhat of a mystery, as their technology is clearly out of place in the country’s culture. The gauntlets, as detailed before, contain a demon-summoning program. However, something to note is that, while East Mikado is a part of Shin Megami Tensei IV’s story, Tokyo, too, plays a role in the game.

The main character in Shin Megami Tensei IV has a dream that indicates his choices will shape the world. Once he wakes up, he completes the Gauntlet Ritual where the Samurai are chosen, along with his childhood friend, Issachar. There, he meets the game’s other characters, who he also saw in his dream.

According to the game’s website, as a Samurai, life is much different for our main character from his life in his hometown; and every day, day by day, his life becomes more and more extraordinary.
