Speaking of Rocket Company, they dabbled in strategy RPGs before focusing on English training games for the DS. Ultra Garrison: Monster Attack is their contribution to the genre and it’s like Super Robot Taisen with Ultraman.
But, you don’t control Ultraman in this game! You battle kaiju, Godzilla-like monsters, with Earth’s defense force, which is made out of science vessels and advanced battleships.
If Ultraman shows up you can cooperate with him while he crushes your foes. The game has stills of Ultraman episodes in it too, a neat treat for fans.
Ultra Garrison: Monster Attack was made for the Game Boy Advance and it came out on the tail end of the system’s life. Bad timing and the Ultraman license may be two reasons why the game never left Japan.
