Nintendo just locked down a release date for both the American and European versions of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for Wii. The game will release on November 18th in Europe and November 20th in North America.

Producer, Eiji Aonuma, describes Skyward Sword’s characters like those out of a school drama. Link and his friends — including Zelda, who’s a childhood friend — attend a boarding school, and several of the game’s events involve the townspeople and these characters. Aonuma compares the game to Majora’s Mask in this regard.

Skyward Sword will also feature an item upgrade system. By collecting artefacts and rupees, you’ll be able to use them as resources to upgrade items such as Link’s shield and the beetle. The game’s story will lay the foundation for Ocarina of Time’s events.
