Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios president, Shuhei Yoshida himself, brings news of a major upcoming PSOne Classic for North America: The Legend of Dragoon. Yoshida says the game was the last title he worked on as a producer at Sony’s Japan Studio.
“During the peak of the game’s development, we had well over 100 people working internally in the studio on The Legend of Dragoon — for a PSone game!” Yoshida shares via the PlayStation blog. “We had roughly 10 artists dedicated just to drawing concept art for this gigantic RPG.”
The Legend of Dragoon took three years to develop, Yoshida recounts. That period includes the time it took to build up the team necessary to develop the game. Yoshida also recalls that a Legend of Dragoon 2 was put into production, but was cancelled for reasons he can’t remember.
The Legend of Dragoon will be released as a PSOne Classic on May 1st.
