At the 2015 PlayStation Experience, Sony and SNK Playmore revealed that The Last Blade 2, originally an arcade and Neo Geo game, would be released to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. Today, John Sanders, Sony PlayStation’s Lead Technical Producer for Third Party Production provided two important details about the port on Twitter. The first is that Last Blade 2 will be playable on the PlayStation TV, as well as the PlayStation Vita. The second is that the game will support online multiplayer.
The Last Blade 2 is a weapon-based, 2D fighter that originally debuted in arcades in 1998. It featured 20 fighters battling in the hopes of finding a Sealing Maiden to perform a Sealing Rite that would close the gate between two worlds. Four of those 20 were hidden characters. The Neo Geo CD and Dreamcast versions also boasted Musashi Akatsuki as an exclusive character, and the Neo Geo CD version also included voice acting and a quiz mode.
A release date for The Last Blade 2 has yet to be announced for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. Sony and SNK Playmore also have yet to say if it will be a port of the original or Neo Geo CD version of the game.
