The tagline for this rogue, which also has a standard version available, is “No more rules.” In the original ad from November 2020, Rei puts on the lipstick. After she does, Megumi Hayashibara says, in character, “No more rules.” In the new extended cut, we see why Rei was putting on makeup. The additional almost 10 seconds of footage shows she was getting ready to meet someone special.

Here’s the extended Kate Tokyo ad featuring Rei modeling the Evangelion variant of the makeup.

And here are some pictures of the Red Nude Rogue palettes. Amazon Japan has the 01, 02, 04, and 07 variants for for ¥1,980 (~$19) each.

This is one of many potentially unexpected tie-in products. Schick Japan made themed razors that came with magnets and posters. There are external hard drives. An Entry Plug Pillow appeared. There are also lots of different Tamagotchi models.

The Evangelion x Kate Rei Ayanami design Red Nude Rouge makeup will launch in Japan on February 9, 2021. Evangelion 3.0+1.0, the final Rebuild of Evangelion movie, doesn’t have a release date yet.
