You probably remember colourful multiplayer side-scroller Hive Jump from when we covered it last year. In a recent update to the game’s development blog, developer Graphite Labs have outlined their major milestones for the next year:

  • Fall 2015: Launch Early Access on Steam
  • Q1 2016: Full Release on Steam
  • Q1 2016: Release on Wii U eShop

Hive Jump is a mix of action-platforming and turn-based strategy. During the action segments, you take on alien hives either by yourself or with up to three other players. This part of the game will play like a side-scrolling shooter. What you see above is a sample of the swarming technology that will be used for the alien enemies in the game. Graphite Labs say there can be a hundred fliers in a single swarm.

Meanwhile, the turn-based segments are a simple strategy game where you manage bases for your J.U.M.P. Corps by either fortifying bases or bombarding enemy hives.

Hive Jump is currently in development for PC and Wii U, and you can read more about it in this prior report.
