It’s been a while since we heard anything about Ikenfell, the RPG set at a school for potential mages where unsettling activities are afoot. But apparently no news might have been good news, as the latest update involves its launch. The Ikenfell release date is now October 8, 2020. Chevy Ray Johnston, who did the art, coded, and designed the game, announced it on Twitter.
Ikenfell began its life as a Kickstarter project. It raised $61,787 from 2,602 backers and initially had an estimated June 2018 release window. It was completed in March 2019, with an alpha build done in April 2020. While it was initially noted as a PC release, the E3 2019 ID@Xbox presentation confirmed it would be on Xbox Game Pass.
Ikenfell follows Maritte. Her sister, Safina, was a star student at the magical Ikenfell academy. That is, until she disappeared. Even though she has no magic, Maritte has turned up at the school to find out what is going on.
Here’s a gamescom 2020 Twitch clip showing the Ikenfell release date and some in-game footage of its Mario & Luigi-inspired, turn-based battle system.
