The First Three Valis PC Engine Games Appear on Steam

Edia has released the first three Valis PC Engine games on Steam. People can now buy and play Valis: The Fantasm Soldier, Valis II, and Valis III in Japanese and English on the popular PC gaming platform.

There are some catches on the new Steam releases, though. The primary Steam page hosts the Valis: The Fantasm Soldier Collection Launcher, which is free to download and open. But if one were to only download the launcher, they would not be able to access any content beyond the main menu. This is because the games are only available as paid DLC for the launcher, and they cost $5.99 individually.

The games are not the only accessible content in this collection. Edia is also separately selling the compilation’s digital soundtrack at $5.99 and digital artbook, which costs a bit more at $7.99.

The Steam release marks a new phase in Edia’s efforts to bring the classic Valis games to more recent platforms. The company first released the compilation on Nintendo Switch. It has also released the second and third compilations that brought in titles from more classic platforms like the Mega Drive (Sega Genesis) and Family Computer (NES). It remains to be seen whether Edia will also bring the latter compilations to Steam or not.

Valis: The Fantasm Soldier Collection is now available on PC via Steam. The PC Engine game compilation is also accessible on Nintendo Switch.
