As you may recall, at one point, Nintendo of America shared that there would be “hundreds” of Kid Icarus: Uprising augmented reality cards. Six of these, randomly chosen from a set of twenty, will come with every copy of the game. Today, NOA announced plans for the remainder, that comprise the “hundreds”.
Three cards will be given away exclusively via Club Nintendo, starting today. Great Reaper, Palutena and Drill Arm cards can be obtained here. Another three cards — the Three Sacred Treasures — will be given away to fans that buy Kid Icarus: Uprising at the Nintendo World store in New York on launch day.
GameStop will be giving cards away, too. If you visit a GameStop store on April 14th from 1-4PM to participate in Kid Icarus play sessions, you’ll get Eggplant Wizard, Skyscraper Club, Fireworks Cannon, Minos and the Fiend’s Cauldron cards. Additionally, Game Informer magazine will come with a Power of Flight card in its April issue.
Other retailers and magazines are in on the fun as well. Nintendo Power will come with come with Poseidon, Thanatos and Medusa cards in its April issue, while Best Buy will include Pit, Pandora and Samurai Blade cards in the April issue of @Gamer, their in-store magazine.
Finally, NOA will also be distributing cards at several upcoming events, including WonderCon, PAX East, and Kid Icarus: Uprising tournaments held at GameStop stores in New York and Los Angeles.
Kid Icarus: Uprising will be released on March 23rd in North America and Europe. Augmented reality cards can be used to watch character battles and unlock content within the game early.
