Back in December 2020, Ponos released The Battle Cats Unite for the Nintendo Switch in Japan. While an Asian English release followed in December 2021, the tower defense game is now available on the eShop worldwide.
The Battle Cats Unite is $19.99 on the Switch eShop in the US and £15.99 in the UK. As in the mobile game and 3DS installment, your goal is to deploy cats (and cat-shaped creatures) to defend your base and overwhelm your opponent’s forces to destroy theirs. You can earn XP and capsule machine tickets as you play, so you can build up the cats you already have and collect new ones. The campaign features over 300 stages, which can be played alone or with another person. There’s also a selection of minigames and VS Mode. However, multiplayer is limited to local options.
Here’s the original Asian English trailer for The Battle Cats Unite. It begins by showing how single and co-op campaign stages go, complete with looks at the canon system. At the 30 second mark, VS Mode comes up. The four minigames show up after one minute.
The Battle Cats Unite is available on the Nintendo Switch worldwide. The original game is on mobile devices.
