Tetsuya Nomura Talks Kingdom Hearts 4 Gameplay Features

In an interview with Famitsu, Kingdom Hearts series Director Tetsuya Nomura elaborated on some of the gameplay systems that will appear in Kingdom Hearts 4. This includes the return of “Reaction Commands” from Kingdom Hearts 2. Nomura reveals that “Reaction Commands” will be making a return due to fans wanting to see the mechanic make a reappearance after Kingdom Hearts 3. When ask about the various gameplay systems in Kingdom Heart 4, Nomura elaborated a bit on what the “Build” command actually relates to. This is what he had to say:

“The concept of that battle (in the trailer) is “Scrap and Build,” with the “Build” command symbolizing it. I can’t really tell you about it yet, but deconstruction and reconstruction will be the key.”

More details concerning the “Scrap and Build” mechanic will appear in the future. Nomura asks readers to wait for a follow-up report to learn more. He also mentions that the visuals for the “Reaction Commands” are a placeholder for the time being. This means that this is potentially not what the mechanic will look like in the full release of the game.

Kingdom Hearts 4 is in development.
