Square Enix are holding a Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII art contest in collaboration with DeviantArt, the two companies have announced.

Keeping with Lightning Returns’ costume customization theme, the art contest requires participants to enter artwork of Lightning, with different takes on her looks, including apparel, weapons, and other areas of customization.

Here’s the interesting part: the art contest will be judged by Square Enix character designer and director Tetsuya Nomura. Nomura, as you may know, designed Lightning, in addition to which, he’s the director of the Kingdom Hearts series and is also directing Final Fantasy XV.

You can find more contest details here. Prizes include an original sketch from Tetsuya Nomura, a custom Xbox 360 console and controller, a sum of $1,000 USD, the entire Final Fantasy XIII trilogy on Xbox 360, a Lightning Returns shirt, and a logo keychain.

The prize will go out to three winners, and the winning designers will have their art featured on the DeviantArt homepage, with a link to their profile on the site. And yes, the contest is open to participants worldwide.
