Tetsuya Nomura shared his take on Gilgamesh in honor of the launch of the Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin Wanderer of the Rift DLC. It is an almost entirely red and black drawing of the recurring character, with a hint of “light” over his glowing eyes. The Twitter post sharing it also noted that he’s looking for someone to face him.
Here’s the official tweet revealing Tetsuya Nomura’s take on Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin‘s Gilgamesh. As a reminder, Nomura served as both a producer and artist for the game.

Gilgamesh first appeared in Final Fantasy V in 1992 as a villain. Since then, he’s appeared in multiple mainline entries and spin-offs. For example, he appears as a Guardian Force in Final Fantasy VIII and showed up as an NPC in Final Fantasy IX and XI. Most recently, he appeared as a racer and rival in Chocobo GP.
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC, as is its new Wanderer of the Rift DLC. Following the add-on’s release, a transmogrification (transmog) feature also appeared in the game.
