In a new gameplay trailer for Heihachi Mishima, we got to see his Tekken 8 moveset as he faces off various opponents. These include two of his lesser sons, Lars and Lee, fellow DLC characters Lidia and Eddy, and finally Jin, who he shares a unique intro with. Finally, Heihachi faces off against Kazuya for the first time since their climactic battle in Tekken 7. Heihachi will be added to the game with the latest update on October 3, 2024. However, players who have purchased the Season pass will get to play him from September 30, 2024.

In a Tekken Talk given shortly after the release of the trailer, we got some deeper gameplay details for Heihachi in Tekken 8. According to director Kohei Ikeda, the designers wanted to emphasis his power and stances. Significant changes to his moveset include a greater emphasis on two stances, Fujin and Raijin.

He also gained a new powerup called Warrior Instinct which can be activated over three rounds to give buffs to his damage output and add more recoverable health. There will also be a new stage within the Heihachi DLC, Genmaji Temple, which features three variants including fall and winter versions.

As well as Heihachi gameplay, Bandai Namco revealed more new content coming to Tekken 8. This includes a story update called Unforgotten Echoes which will feature Eddy, Lidia and Heihachi. It will focus on why Heihachi has seemingly returned from the dead. This story content will be released as a free update, so you do not need to purchase any of the DLC characters to access it.

Tekken 8 is out now for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The Heihachi Mishima DLC will be available on October 3, 2024.
