Surprisingly, Sony chose to localize Talkman Travel for North America and probably the world. This came out last year in Japan on a UMD disc as a companion for Japanese tourists planning trips to Seoul, Shanghai, and Taiwan. Tomorrow it’s going to help North American tourists get around Rome, Paris, and Tokyo for the low price of $5.99 per city. Talkman Travel was sold for 4,090 yen in Japan ($37). Sony is probably saving money by releasing Talkman Travel on the PlayStation Store, but I imagine there must have been an extensive amount of work put into localizing this. The US version doesn’t even cover the same countries.
I’m amused that Sony chose to keep the pick-up line feature as part of the package. The thought of someone using their PSP to get a date with someone who doesn’t speak the same language amuses me greatly. Lots of luck to anyone who tries this approach! If you’re lucky enough to score dinner and can’t communicate Talkman Travel has some four mini-games like Love Love Hearts, some kind of fortune telling game, Massage Hunter, Love Love Hearts DX. Oh wait the localized build only has three games. Did someone cut Massage Hunter?
