Earlier this month, Bandai Namco trademarked ‘Tales of Luminaria’ in Europe. The company has followed up with English and Japanese trademarks for the title in Japan on October 14, 2020, just a day after the European trademark. [Thanks, Gematsu.]
As previously mentioned, Tales of Luminaria doesn’t belong to any currently announced Tales of entry. The Japanese trademarks didn’t include any further information, but it appears that Bandai Namco has something in the works with a release outside of Japan already in mind. Keep in mind that there’s always a good chance that it’s simply a placeholder title. For example, back in July 2013, Bandai Namco trademarked “Tales of Zestoria,” “Tales of Creales,” and “Tales of Catastora” but only one of them ended up actually being something.
Considering the next mothership title, Tales of Arise, is in the works, there’s a possibility that Tales of Luminaria could be a smaller title or a mobile game. There’s no telling when and if we’ll hear anything about Tales of Luminaria, but if we do, there’s a chance it could come at the Tales of Festival 2020. The event will take place on March 6-7, 2021.
The aforementioned Tales of Arise is in development for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Bandai Namco delayed the game from its initial 2020 release window due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
