Sega and Hori are coming through for Virutal On: Oratorio Tangram fans. Xbox 360 sticks are almost in production.
Pre-orders for the 30,000 yen ($300 — seriously, it’s $300) twin stick controller run from now until July 2nd. The special Virtual On controller can only be purchased through Hori’s pre-order program, which means you won’t be able to get one if you live outside of Japan. A small group of Virtual On fans will get their twin stick controllers and an edge over the Xbox Live Arcade competition in the middle of November.
Even if you’re in Japan and have 30,000 yen hidden in a fortune cat you still may not get an Xbox 360 twin stick controller. Hori will only produce the accessory after they pre-sell an unknown amount of controllers.
While ludicrously expensive, I have to hand it to Sega and Hori for making a niche accessory for their biggest fans. What other publisher would pursue something like this?
