Last night, the Piranha Plant joined the cast of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Now, some people who have updated to 2.0.0 and have been using Piranha Plant and other characters in some of the Games & More section’s modes are reporting experiencing Super Smash Bros Ultimate save data corruption. [Thanks Exkaiser, Reddit, and Resetera!]

With the Piranha Plant, people who have experienced the problem are saying the save data corruption bug occurs if people use the character in All-Star Mode. When people pick the character and use them in this mode, the game could crash and corrupt the save data.

The other two characters experiencing issues are Duck Hunt and Mii Swordfighter. With these two characters, it seems that Century Smash is the problem. Playing as one of them in this mode could cause the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate save data to be corrupted.

If someone experiences save data corruption and also subscribes to Nintendo Switch Online, there is a way to recover. You would just need to grab your old, uncorrupted save file from the cloud using Save Data Cloud Backup for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available for the Nintendo Switch.
