A new challenger approaches! The next Super Smash Bros Ultimate fighter is about to be announced. On October 1, 2020 at 7am PT/10am ET/4pm CET, Nintendo will share a video announcing the fighter. As usual, Masahiro Sakurai will have an announcement after as well.
This segment will be much shorter than past Super Smash Bros Ultimate DLC announcements. It suggests this could just be an announcement with a brief explanation from Sakurai, rather than a full showcase looking at the new fighter.
Here’s Nintendo’s announcement tweet.

Sakurai did note back in March 2020 that the COVID-19 pandemic will have an effect on the DLC fighter release schedule. He also mentioned in April 2020 that he was overseeing development remotely.
The last Super Smash Bros Ultimate DLC fighter to join the cast was Min Min. The ARMS heroine was announced on June 22, 2020, then appeared in-game a few days later on June 29, 2020.
Super Smash Bros Ultimate is available for the Nintendo Switch.
