A fun update has been added to Super Smash Bros Ultimate Cuphead fights. It all has to do with two Spirit Battles in-game. If someone takes part in a fight to earn either Cuphead or Mugman, you’ll actually be fighting “Cuphead.”
Here’s how it all works. Back in February 2020, a Super Smash Bros Ultimate Cuphead Spirit Board event added Cuphead, Mugman, The Devil, and King Dice Spirits. Now, those fights work with the Cuphead Mii Fighter DLC released back in January 2020. As pointed out in Nintendo’s tweet, both the Cuphead and Mugman Mii Gunner fights will have your opponent wearing that Mii Fighter outfit if you bought the add-on.
If you own the Mii Fighter costume Cuphead Hat + Outfit in #SmashBrosUltimate, Cuphead and Mugman’s spirit battles will now change to a Mii Gunner dressed as Cuphead!

Keep in mind that this change only involves the Cuphead costume. It doesn’t mention anything about the music track that came in with that add-on. As a reminder, it was like the Undertale Sans costume and included a song from the original game. In this case, it was “Floral Fury” from the Cagney Carnation stage in Cuphead.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available for the Nintendo Switch.
