People who want to visit the Donkey Kong Country in Universal Studios Japan’s Super Nintendo World will have to wait longer. Universal Studios Japan announced a delay to the new zone’s opening via its X account. The Donkey Kong Country’s opening, which was originally slated for Spring 2024, is now delayed to the latter half of 2024.
To compensate for the delayed opening, Universal Studios has newly uploaded two CG trailers featuring the Donkey Kong Country zone on its YouTube channel. The first one exclusively features characters from the Super Mario Bros and Donkey Kong franchises. It also shows the gate that will connect Donkey Kong Country with Super Nintendo World.
The second version includes live actors. This video will also be broadcast as a commercial ad on Japanese television channels.
Nintendo and Universal Studios Japan have been teasing the new zone since September 2021. In December 2023, the companies announced a Spring 2024 opening window. Although the opening time has since been delayed to late 2024, the companies are still on track with the initial plan to launch Donkey Kong Country within the year.
The Donkey Kong Country zone in Universal Studios Japan’s Super Nintendo World will be available in the latter half of 2024.
