Games are becoming better day by day in terms of graphics, mechanics, background scores, interaction, and more; however, many gamers still love to feel the nostalgia and play retro games that they used to enjoy during their childhood.
As per ExpressVPN’s survey, 79% of the respondents say they still play retro games. The survey has also revealed that Millennial gamers are more dedicated to gaming than Gen Z. However, the survey has given us a surprising trend that Gen Z gamers are also enjoying games from the 1980s and 1990s.
The reason given by gamers for playing retro games, even in present times, is that they are more original, innovative, and simpler to understand, making them beginner friendly and suitable for both competitive and casual gamers.
According to 38% of respondents in the survey, they play retro games to live nostalgia, and the most popular retro game among the people who participated in the survey is Super Mario Bros.
It is followed by iconic titles like Pac-Man, Tetris, Mario Kart, and The Legend of Zelda. Here are the percentages of respondents who still love to play these retro games, and it is interesting to see that three of the games listed below are Nintendo titles:
- Super Mario Bros: 67%
- Tetris: 49%
- Pac-Man: 48%
- Super Mario Kart: 46%
- The Legend of Zelda: 37%
