At the beginning of January 2021, SUP3R5 claimed it would sell PlayStation 2-inspired black PS5s and DualSense controllers. However, orders were canceled and now the company’s official Twitter account has been deleted. Its website does not offer any update or explanation.
On its site, SUP3R5 claimed in early January that it would sell 304 custom systems and 500 custom controllers. Pre-orders opened on January 8, 2021. However, it then said on January 9, 2021 that it was canceling all orders due to “credible threats” to its employees.
People took to sites like Reddit to suggest it could have been a possible scam and discuss whether or not they received refunds from the company. When SUP3R5 announced the series of cancellations, it said orders that were placed would be refunded. People who paid via PayPal have suggested they’ve received their money back. However, those who went through the company’s site noted that they found themselves unable to delete their credit card information from their account there after placing orders.
Siliconera contacted SUP3R5 on January 10, 2021, requesting comment on these issues and answers regarding the status of refunds. We have yet to receive a reply. We will keep readers posted on any further developments.
