When asked about the comparisons between Square Enix and PlatinumGames’s titles, director Kim Hyung-tae said that NieR: Automata was the game that made him realize that he wanted to make a game like Stellar Blade.

The developer also mentioned God of War as a game that he loves as a fan and the game that taught him open worlds are not necessary to express the vastness of a world. Some other game series that influenced Kim Hyung-tae in the creation of Stellar Blade include Bayonetta, Sekiro, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Stellar Blade is an upcoming character-action game being developed by Nikke creators Shift Up. The game was originally announced in 2019 by the name of Project Eve. The name change was revealed on a Sony State of Play in September 2022. The latest State of Play February 2024 event revealed the game’s release date alongside a new gameplay trailer.

Stellar Blade is coming to the PS5 on April 26, 2024.
