Mages has revealed Steins;Gate Re:Boot at the franchise’s 15th anniversary event. This announcement also served as the climax of the anniversary’s celebration project that started in September 2023.
The company has strongly implied that Re:Boot will appear as a remake of the series’ inaugural entry. The newly published teaser trailer features a year count that started from 2009. That was when the original Steins;Gate first appeared on the Xbox 360 in Japan.
Mages has since also ported the original Steins;Gate for PC, PSP, PS3, PS Vita, PS4, iOS, and Android devices. The PC version is still available to purchase worldwide via Steam.
In the Japanese press release, Mages noted that unlike Steins;Gate Elite which used illustrations from the anime adaptation, the series’ original illustrator Ryohei “huke” Fuke is redrawing the character designs based on his newer skill levels as of 2024. In addition to the new graphics, Mages will also add some new elements to the game’s storyline in Re:Boot.
The official teaser trailer for Steins;Gate Re:Boot is available to watch via Mages’ official YouTube channel:
