How to Complete Starfield “Red Tape Blues” quest

Note: Spoilers ahead for this Starfield side quest.

The Starfield “Red Tape Blues” side quest can be found once you reach the city of Cydonia on Mars. To even get here in the first place, you must complete the prologue and start “The Old Neighborhood” Constellation questline with Sarah Morgan. Once you visit this city, look for Trevor. I originally found him near the entrance to the city, but he might also be on the bottom floor by the miners.

Regardless of where you find the NPC to start this mining company quest, here is everything you need to do to complete it:

  1. Talk to Trevor to learn about his miners’ struggles to get better equipment.
  2. Ask about the off-the-record job he has.
  3. Equip or find a Cutter if you don’t already have one. (The NPC trader in town sells the weapon.)
  4. Go to the rocks on the bottom floor of the city of Cydonia and mine for 10 total pieces of iron.
  5. Take the ore to the marked spot and then speak with Trevor.
  6. Go to the Deimos Staryard orbiting above Mars and board.
  7. Use the computer near the boarding entrance to apply for the Executive Assistant job. Pick whatever options you want; they don’t matter.
  8. Return to Cydonia, speak with Trevor, and then head to the marked office near you on the top floor of the city.
  9. Wait until the nighttime (like after 7 p.m.), which you can do at any nearby chair or bed, and then hack the marked computer.
  10. Pick the option to delete all of the other job applications besides yours.
  11. Go back to Trevor to complete this quest and start the next one.

You’ll get 3,000 credits from Trevor for completing this quest, plus a bunch of experience and more side quests from him if you’d like.

Starfield is available for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
