Back in December 2018, Eric “Concerned Ape” Barone revealed that he is working working on a 1.4 update for the game that will bring even more content to the farming sim. Now, he has revealed another element on Twitter that will be introduced in that patch. People will be able to add fish ponds for the first time.
Stardew Valley fish ponds will let people take fish that they have caught and raise them in ponds on their farm. These are considered buildings, like various barns, and the image noted shows three ponds. The one in the top right appears to have coral in it, the one in the top right has squid, and the bottom right one has sturgeon in it. The two with fish present also have signs showing how many are in each pond. It looks like fishing in a fish pond could be a way to geta fish out. Also, the bottom left side shows what appears to be roe that has been placed in a preserves jar to make caviar. Barone also noted that other products could be gathered from fish ponds.
Some other hints about Stardew Valley 1.4 updates have been teased since its initial announcement. People will be able to pay to recover items dropped in mines. There will also be a new kind of farm layout called Four Corners.
Stardew Valley is available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, PC, and both Android and Apple iOS devices. As a reminder, update 1.4 will appear on PCs first, then head to consoles and mobile devices.
