After just missing its 2022 debut, Eric “Concerned Ape” Barone announced the Stardew Valley 1.5 Android and Apple iOS update will be appearing on mobile devices soon. The developer took to Twitter to confirm it is submitted to the respective storefronts. He also noted that this new update required a “completely new rewrite of the mobile app.” Also, now that this patch is coming, Simplified Chinese will again return to the Android and iOS versions.
The announcement also included Barone mentioning future patches. There is a dedicated forum thread for bug reports, to adjust Stardew Valley 1.5 issues on mobile Android and iOS devices. In addition, future patches could arrive more quickly due to the rewrite.
Here’s the official announcement going over the Stardew Valley 1.5 mobile update. It also notes the one-time file transfer request is completely normal.
Some things to note:
On Android you will be asked to do a 1 time save file transfer. This was necessary because of new operating system rules concerning file access.— ConcernedApe (@ConcernedApe) January 7, 2023
One advantage to this new re-write of the app is that it should be a lot easier to update mobile in the future (for 1.6 and who knows… ).

We’re committed to fixing any bugs in this mobile update and will be following up with patches as needed. Also I plan on bringing back Simplified Chinese language with a patch soon.
