Star Ocean: Blue Sphere heads to mobile phones in a few days. With this release the slew of Star Ocean remakes should be over. Enix originally released Star Ocean: Blue Sphere for Game Boy Color and it is the only Star Ocean game not in North America.
Star Ocean: Blue Sphere takes place shortly after Star Ocean: The Second Story (aka Star Ocean: Second Evolution). You run into and party with many old friends. Amazingly, Tri-Ace built an action battle system specifically for Star Ocean: Blue Sphere too. The remake uses the same combat system and refreshes the eight year old game with brand new graphics.
Tri-Ace must have put a lot of work in the remake project which makes me want to believe we’ll see this in North America somehow. Our mobile phones may not be up to par, but Square Enix could convert Star Ocean: Blue Sphere for DSiWare, WiiWare, or buckle down and make a handheld game out of the material.
If you have an iMode phone you can download Star Ocean: Blue Sphere on June 8th.
