Back in October 2021, Nintendo announced new Metroid Dread Spirits of characters like Samus would be available in SSBU. However, they were part of a limited time event. If people didn’t take part by October 13, 2021, they’d miss their chance for a while. Now, Nintendo’s Japanese Twitter account confirmed all three Spirits are available all the time in-game.
Here’s the official announcement. It also showed off the three Metroid Dread SSBU Spirits. In addition to bringing another Samus Primary Spirit variant to SSBU, it also added an E.M.M.I. as a Primary Spirit and Chozo Soldier as a Support Spirit.

For reference, the Metroid Dread Samus SSBU Primary Spirit is a three-star Shield-type. It increases the power of shooting items when equipped and has three slots. The E.M.M.I. is a three-star Attack-type with two slots. It increases a character’s speed once equipped. The Chozo Soldier is a two-star Support Spirit that takes up one slot. It increases the power of battering items.
These were among the last Spirits to be added to the game. The others are a selection of Kingdom Hearts characters. They joined alongside the last DLC character, Sora.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available for the Nintendo Switch. So is Metroid Dread.
