Square Enix have announced a release date for Gyrozetter: Wings of the Albatross, an upcoming RPG for the Nintendo 3DS, featuring vehicles that can transform into mechs. The game will be released in Japan on June 13th.

Gyrozetter already has a game out in arcades. For the arcade version, Square came up with actual transforming cabinets (read more here) that change depending on whether you’re battling as a car or a robot. While the 3DS title will share the same worldview as the Gyrozetter anime, it will be a separate game with its own story.

Gyrozetter: Wings of the Albatross will allow you to drive around and transform between a car and a mech at will, including in fields and dungeons. The game takes place 40 years after the anime series in the year 2053 and uses an “Active Gear Battle” system.

Square have teamed up with a number of car manufacturers like Subaru, Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, Mitsubishi and more for the game. Gyrozetter: Wings of the Albatross will be available for 5,490 yen at retail and 5,000 yen on the eShop.
