Square Enix announced that the company will be moving its central offices in Tokyo, from Shinjuku to a high-rise building located in the Sakuragaoka redevelopment area, in central Shibuya. The Sakuragaoka district is an area adjacent to the Shibuya Station. The district has been in redevelopment since 2019. One of the redeveloped areas includes the tall new building that will be housing the Square Enix offices sometime after its completion in November 2024. [Thanks, Shibuya Keizai!]
Specifically, Square Enix will be relocating to “Block A,” the tallest of the three buildings that are a port of the Sakuragaoka urban redevelopment project. The building itself has a height of approximately 179 meters (587 feet). It stands 39 floors tall, and has 4 additional underground floors. It counts with a total floor space of roughly 184,700 square meters (or nearly 2 million square feet).
Construction of the building is expected to wrap up in November 2024, after which Square Enix will be able to relocate. According to Square Enix, the number of floors that the company will occupy and the time of relocation are currently undecided.
The Square Enix offices are not the only thing changing, as earlier in March 2023 the company announced that President and Representative Director, Yosuke Matsuda, will be replaced.
