As part of a panel at the Korean G-STAR 2024 gaming conference, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Producer Yoshinori Kitase and Director Naoki Hamaguchi talked about how the airship will be an important part of FFVII Remake Part 3. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]
The panel was titled “The challenges of Creating a Timeless Game and Its Remake Project.” Due to the high anticipation for the final part of the FFVII Remake trilogy, the developers couldn’t say much.
However, Hamaguchi said that, while FFVII Rebirth offered a large map, when thinking about the original Final Fantasy VII then part 3 of the new remake trilogy will bring the Highwind airship into play. Because of the introduction of the airship, the director said that the world needs to be experienced from a higher perspective.
Additionally, Hamaguchi concluded the presentation with the following statement:
We will not cheat with the airship system (in FFVII Remake Part 3,) but take the challenge head-on so that it can freely fly all over the game map.
Back in April 2024, the FFVII Rebirth Ultimania released and it included some words from Tetsuya Nomura that revealed that the story for Part 3 of is already done.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is readily available on the PlayStation 5. The exclusivity arrangement expired on May 29, 2024, so the game may appear in other platforms in the future like Windows PC.
