Square Enix had plans to announce new games at E3 2020, but since it was cancelled, the company will instead have new game announcements in July and August. [Thanks, No Investment No Life via Games Talk.]
The information comes from a stockholders meeting that took place on June 26, 2020.
As always, the company had a Q&A session with the shareholders. One question in particular asked about the new game announcements that we missed due to E3 2020 being cancelled.
Check out the question from the Q&A session below:
Q: Normally, you announce new games at E3, but what are your plans this year with the changes due to coronavirus?
A: Yes, we normally do announce new games at E3. However, we did have plans to do a press conference as a replacement (for E3 2020), but since the assets weren’t ready, we were not able to hold the event. That said, we’ll make individual title announcements later when the timing is right. We have plans to announce several (new titles) through July and August.
Back in March, Square Enix explored other options for showing games after the cancellation of E3 2020.
E3 2020 would have been held June 9 through June 11, 2020, in Los Angeles, California. While it wasn’t a new game announcement, Square Enix recently teased an anime for The World Ends With You. You can check out the countdown site here.
