Square Enix filed trademarks for “The Isle Dragon Roars,” “Deep Insanity,” and “Mugen Shinsoku Zan” (“無限神速斬”) in Japan.
Square Enix filed the trademarks for The Isle Dragon Roars and Deep Insanity earlier this month in Japan on November 4, 2020. The company filed the trademark for Mugen Shinsoku Zan, which roughly means “Limitless Extreme Speed Slash,” on November 11, 2020.
We haven’t seen anything from Square Enix about The Island Dragon Roars, so your guess is as good as ours on that one. However, Deep Insanity is the title of a sci-fi mystery manga series serialized in Gangan Comics. Square Enix Holdings owns the manga imprint, Gangan Comics, so the connection is already there.
The creators of the manga include writers Fukami Makoto and Kaihou, illustrator Etorouji Shiono. It takes place in a world plagued by Randolph’s Syndrome, a mysterious coma-inducing illness that appeared after an odd discovery in Antarctica. While many investigation squads voyaged to the discovered asylum in Antarctica, none have returned. The story follows a boy named Serge Sol, who happens to be immune to the disease.
It’s always worth noting that trademarks never guarantee new games from a company. That said, all three trademarks could end up as placeholder titles or actual games in the future. Last month, Square Enix trademarked “Forspoken” and “A Hero’s Bonds” in Japan.
