Curve Studios’ infiltration game, Stealth Bastard, is being released in Japan by Square Enix, the two companies announced today. Square will publish the game under its new title, Stealth Inc, for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Vita via the PlayStation Network this month.
Stealth Inc will be available in Japan in two different versions: The original PlayStation 3 and Vita version, and the PlayStation 4 “Ultimate Edition,” which includes the DLC packs The Teleporter Chambers and The Lost Clones, which add 40 levels to the game together.
Square Enix will publish the game under their “Extreme Edges” label in Japan, which they use to publish games like Activision’s Call of Duty series and Diablo III: Reaper of Souls.
“We’ve been interested in bringing Stealth Inc to Japan ever since E3 last year, when we had a really positive response from the Japanese press,” said Curve Digital’s managing director, Jason Perkins.
“As a publisher ourselves, we know how important understanding local markets can be, and working together with Square Enix allows us to take advantage of their years of expertise in Japan.”
Meanwhile, Square Enix say that they feel Stealth Inc. isn’t the only game from Curve Studios that Japanese gamers are interested in, and that they’re looking into publishing other Curve titles in Japan as well. Some of the games that Curve have published on consoles include Thomas Was Alone, Lone Survivor and Proteus.
Recently, Curve Studios also announced that they are currently working on Stealth Inc 2. That game will be a timed exclusive for Wii U. You may recall that Curve Studios have also worked on two games for Nintendo—the original Fluidity for WiiWare, and a follow-up to that game, Fluidity: Spin Cycle, for the Nintendo 3DS.
