During this year’s Gamescom which took place in Cologne, Germany, DualShockers got the chance to speak to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn producer and director, Naoki Yoshida. [Thanks, DualShockers.]

One of the subjects they discussed was the possibility of Final Fantasy XIV becoming playable on the Xbox One, a concept that has been hinted at being in the works for a bit of time. When asked if this Xbox One version was still being considered, Yoshida noted that, due to Microsoft’s regulations in regards to cross-platform games, creating an Xbox version of the game would prove challenging.

Still, that doesn’t mean that the possibility of Final Fantasy XIV being playable on Xbox One is completely off the table. In fact, yet another meeting between Microsoft’s Seattle-based team and Yoshida is already planned for next month, wherein Yoshida hopes to be able to discuss cross platform gameplay further.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3.
