Square Enix has announced Project Athia (working title), a new game being developed exclusively for PlayStation 5. The game is developed in Luminous Studio, which means this is the previously-unannounced AAA game to use the engine aside from Final Fantasy XV.
Check out the trailer below:
IN A WORLD NOT HER OWN
WHERE RESOLVE WILL BE TESTED
TRUTHS WILL BE QUESTIONED
AND DEVOTIONS WILL BE DOUBTED
SHE WILL RISE.
Currently, not much is known about Project Athia, but the trailer shows off a girl wandering a different world that is filled with both nature and man-made objects. Square Enix says that players can look forward to being transported to a vast and detailed world filled with beauty and dismay.
We also do know about the game’s background. As this is developed by Luminous Productions, it’s likely that funding towards the cancelled FFXV DLC went towards this game’s development. According to Square Enix, Project Athia is the culmination of Luminous Productions’ philosophy to create a completely new and fresh gaming experiences that fuses together the latest technologies with art. Back in 2018, Luminous Productions head Takeshi Aramaki lightly talked about making their new AAA new IP, as well as how they’ll focus first on finishing the game first before focusing on other business ventures like universe and IP expansion.
Project Athia is in development for PlayStation 5 and PC. The game’s website can be found here.
