If you had an inkling Splatoon 2 was performing well, you were right. The Nintendo Fiscal Year Ended March 2020 Financial Results are in, and it seems like the game is continuing to stay fresh even as it nears its third birthday. The current Splatoon 2 sales figures are 10.13 million copies sold worldwide.
This puts Splatoon 2 in good company. It is in the top eight best selling Nintendo Switch games, falling in behind Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu and Eevee and ahead of New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe.
Splatoon 2 sales have always been relatively impressive. As people may recall, it ended up being the first Nintendo Switch game to pass two million copies sold in Japan back in February 2018. It has also sold over twice as many copies as the original Splatoon did. Nintendo said the original had passed 4.94 million copies worldwide in September 2018.
Splatoon 2 is immediately available for the Nintendo Switch. Even though it is about to turn three years old, it still is getting updates, sometimes has its demo reemerge online, and will even be getting one last Splatfest that will have people fighting about ketchup and mayonnaise yet again in May 2020.
