One of coolest aspects of Westerado (playable here) was that you could pull your gun on anyone. It was best used during otherwise friendly conversations with people. You might be having a nice chat with someone, and then, suddenly, you’re pointing a shooting iron in their face. Of course, what made this worth doing is that they reacted accordingly, either shaking in their cowboy boots or taking the gesture as a cue for a showdown.

Westerado: Double Barreled is set to make that initial idea a lot of bigger and broader when it comes out on Steam on April 16th for PC. The idea is the same: it’s a Spaghetti Western homage that has you hunting down the desperado who murdered your family – a tale of revenge. You’re given a couple of clues to who this person may be, but for the most part you have to try to put the pieces together, exploring an open world and interrogating its inhabitants to hopefully be pointed in the right direction.

The person you’re hunting down is randomized each time you play, too. So this means you can have a reasonably different hunt, possibly travelling to different areas, meeting different people, and shooting gangs of bandits that hadn’t bothered you before.

It’ll have multiple save slots, controller support, and 720p/1080p display resolutions, which isn’t too bad for a pixel art western, really.
