After SXSW 2020 was canceled as a result of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, Sega announced that it would take its Sonic SXSW 2020 panel announcements online. It said people could expect to learn more sometime in April 2020. However, now the reveals have been delayed further as a result of the virus. There is now no announcement window.
Sega revealed the new Sonic SXSW 2020 delay via Twitter. Safety concerns were cited as a reason for the alternate means of announcing new Sonic the Hedgehog-related things. As a reminder, the 2019 panel included Sega guests from around the world, like Head of Sonic Team Takashi Iizuka and Sonic Team Composer Jun Senoue.
Here is the official announcement tweet.
Hi everyone – we know delays are way past not cool. But with the world in its current state, and to keep our teams safe, we need to wait to show you our SXSW content until things have settled.
Thanks for your patience, and we’ll let you know as soon as we have a date to share!

As a reminder, Sonic SXSW panels have often been used for announcements. The one in 2019 showed new looks at Team Sonic Racing and mentioned a new Sonic the Hedgehog game is in development.
Sega will reveal the Sonic SXSW 2020 announcements at an as-yet unannounced date.
